About Ryan Loftis

Information is power, and data is information! My first experience with this was a daily Excel tracker that showed where each individual and team was at with respect to monthly goals (I was a bill collector at the time). The anticipation everyone had for this tracker was electrifying and it didn’t take long for me to figure out how to manipulate formulas and find which accounts the team needed to collect to meet goals and maximize bonuses. Nearly 20 years later I still have the same fascination and curiosity for data. From that point, my experience first lead into operational roles as a bank teller, AML investigator, and KYC analyst; then transformed strictly into analytics-based jobs of telling stories with data, conducting root-cause analysis, model optimization, metrics reporting, statistical analysis, and a myriad of different projects that allowed management to make data-informed decisions. From tinkering around in Excel, I’ve become fluent in writing SQL and understanding data flows, proficient in Python for automation and advanced analytics/modeling, and an expert in showcasing the data and communicating the results in an easy-to-understand manner. Understands the 80/20 rule of analytics and data science where 80% of time is spent developing requirements and understanding/cleaning the data, and the other 20% is spent testing and re-tuning. Statistics enthusiast! Knows the differences between parametric and non-parametric testing and when/how to use each one. Results-driven, logical thinker who is able to communicate effectively, develop business and technical requirements, and assist stakeholders in translating their requests into actionable data analytics. Ability to transform processes via innovative thinking, timely performance and sound economical/risk analysis. Data storytelling isn’t just a catchphrase! Sure, I can get you general production metrics, but more importantly, I can solve complex business problems using advanced data strategies and techniques and tell you who/what/when/where/why/how in simple, everyday terms.
