About Ryan Lucas

I am a composer currently living in the Annapolis, Maryland area. I graduated from Duquesne University with a Bachelors Degree in Music Technology with a concentration in music composition in 2010. I have been playing guitar for 18 years and have played many other instruments intermittently in that time including string bass, bassoon, euphonium, trumpet, and piano. I began my musical life taking guitar lessons as a child and during high school i began to perform with different ensembles. I was performing in many different bands ranging from funk bands to heavy metal bands. I was also in many of the school ensembles and was elected to a number of honors orchestras and received honors for exceptional solos at Jazz band performances. At college, iI performed in choirs and in electronic ensembles. I have also taught at an arts and music camp called Appel Farm in New jersey. There i taught many different topics ranging from guitar to general music and took care of 10 - 12 13- 14 year old boys on a daily basis. I also did a number of arrangements for small guitar ensembles and for a larger guitar orchestra at the camp. I have focused most of my composing to acoustic instruments while studying with Troy Centofanto, Lynn Purse, David Stock, and Patrick Burke. I have also experimented with electronic music and sound designing as well. I have done a number of film scores and have worked on a number of projects doing production and post-production sound design. I have performed for a number of musical theater productions and am comfortable in an ensemble setting as well as in a band setting.
