About Ryan M. Good
My research examines public schools within a broader study of community development policy and practice. I am interested in neighborhoods, the politics of place, and the implications of marketized reforms for local communities. Spanning urban studies, geography, planning, and education policy, my work bridges a historic disconnect between school reform and community development that has hindered efforts to improve both schools and neighborhoods. Through my research and teaching I seek to inform critical reflection on the effects of structural reforms for local communities and to support and amplify the efforts of marginalized communities to contest spatialized inequality.
