About Ryan MacKereth

My name is Ryan. I am a husband and father living in Los Angeles, and I am a Registered Nurse. I absolutely love my job, and have been working as a Registered Nurse since 2017. I am currently working full-time as a Registered Nurse at Adventist Health Glendale in the ICU. I am passionate about nursing and will always strive to improve my nursing skills and knowledge throughout my career. I graduated from the Nursing Program at Rio Hondo College in Whittier California in 2017 and received my BSN from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2019. I started off working at Whittier Hospital in the Medical-Surgical unit where I gained valuable nursing skills and patient care. I eventually trained on how to care for patients in the telemetry unit, which led me to apply for a position in the ICU. The ICU setting has greatly increased my critical thinking, assessment, and treatment of patients with critical care needs. My current position involves working in a large ICU setting at Adventist Health Glendale, an interventional stroke and cardiac hospital, requiring a high level of skill and training to care for these critical patients. In the ICU I enjoy the close relationship with doctors and other members of the care team in order to provide quality care to this vulnerable patient population. I know that my leadership skills, dynamic nursing experience, and passion for nursing will allow me to be a valuable member of any clinical nursing team. The foundation of my nursing career lies with my natural ability and desire to care for people. I demonstrate this by being a compassionate caregiver who is excellent at communicating with patients, families, and staff. In speaking with my past employers, all have agreed that I am a team player with a great attitude, excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, and a strong desire to continue learning. Being a testicular cancer survivor in 2015 has greatly changed my outlook on life, and has transformed how I manage and care for my patients.
