About Ryan McCarthy

I have worked in the fast food industry, in retail, at a horse rescue center, and a dry cleaning company. These jobs entailed different duties and responsibilities which helped me develop the necessary skills to work in the law enforcement field. Working at a horse rescue facility required hard work and dedication to make a positive impact on animals' lives, while instilling a strong work ethic. Working in retail and the fast food industry has given me the opportunity to strengthen my people skills while serving the customers to promote a positive image of my employer. I worked under minimal supervision at the dry cleaning company. This has strengthened my work ethic because there is no supervisor and it is my sole responsibility to get the work done in an efficient manner. Working at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office has been a great opportunity that has helped me gain many new skill sets and communication skills. I went through hundreds of hours of training in the Academy to develop firearms skills, driving skills, and PPCT Skills. I also went through classroom training that involved learning the laws, report writing, first aid and many others. While working at the Adams County Detention Facility I have gained knowledge in law enforcement operations, report writing and working on my communication skills. I have gone through extended training to become a POST Certified Handgun instructor.
