About Ryan McDonald

Hi! My name is Ryan McDonald, and I am a 20-year-old university student, studying a dual Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Laws (Hons). I currently work as a political staffer, under the Electorate Officer title. I work for the Queensland Senator the Honourable James McGrath as an Electorate Officer specialising in Community Engagement. It is a hybrid role between public relations and strategy, with high standards of communication, leadership and problem-solving being requirements. I was also honoured to be elected the Youth Minister for Justice, the Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence, Police and Corrective Services and the Youth Member for Oodgeroo! This was a role that I feel immensely proud to be a part of; working with my colleagues, being a voice for young people and advocating for a better Queensland. These experiences provided me with the necessary ethic, communication and leadership skills that could be used in any industry. Whether it be writing media releases, giving speeches on the floor of the Queensland Parliament, liaising with constituents to create better outcomes for my local community or collaborating with my colleagues, my experiences inform the person that I am today.
