About Ryan McDyer

Software Engineer @ Guidewire Software. 2017 Computer Applications graduate at Dublin City University, Ireland. I'm a quick learner and I'm always looking out for new things to add to my skill set. In my current role at Guidewire Software, I have been responsible for the implementation of solutions end-to-end using AWS for back-end services, ReactJS on the front-end, and integrating the system with Guidewire CloudPlatform. I have also been responsible for finding CI bottlenecks in our jenkins & teamcity pipelines, and creating solutions to remove these bottlenecks and increase the pace at which production-ready code can be merged into our codebase. I worked at Cellusys during Summer 2015 & 2016 as a DLX++ Intern. I primarily used Java and AngularJS during my time there. I worked on an internal project in 2nd year, and in 3rd year I worked on 2 commercial products, and I was responsible for migrating the build and deployment processes of a third product from CentOS to Ubuntu. I participated in the Erasmus+ student exchange program in late 2015. I took part in the Information Science and Technology Semester (IST-Semester) at the Institut national des sciences appliquées de Lyon (INSA Lyon) in France. During my 5 months in France, I took Computer Science modules in English alongside some "French as a foreign language" modules. This really allowed me to keep up with my computing coursework, while also affording me the opportunity to improve my French language skills.
