About Ryan Meanwell

My name is Ryan Meanwell. In June 2023 I graduated from Munster Technological University with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Social Care Work. Prior to this, I completed an NFQ level 5 in Applied Social Studies at Coláiste Stíofain Naofa. I have 5 years of educational experience overall in Health and Social Care. Currently I am enrolled in a Level 7 certificate course titled eBioPharmaChem with GetReskilled and Technological University Dublin. This course offers a career change opportunity where I can professionally develop in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry. In relation to work experience, I am currently employed by Stryker Neurovascular as a Production Operator. I am thankful to be professionally developing in the medical device manufacturing industry with Stryker and I am honoured to be continuing to have a positive impact on healthcare through manufacturing life changing products for patients suffering from strokes and brain aneurysms. Prior to this, I worked for the Brothers of Charity for 3 years in day service and residential settings supporting people with intellectual disabilities. I also completed work experience in residential care for young people, and in day care with elderly people. Prior to this, I worked as a retail merchandiser, and as a shop assistant & cashier. Regardless of my occupation, I strive to showcase a high work ethic, an eagerness to learn and to develop my skills. I showcase this willingness to develop professionally through attending trainings. For example, I have completed trainings such as emergency first aid, manual handling, epilepsy awareness, fire safety, medication training, communication skills, behaviour support, cyber security, safeguarding, etc. I believe my background allows me to be more empathic than the typical person. In my opinion, my compassion, understanding, and supportive nature can boost team morale, and strengthen team cohesion which positively influences on work productivity and the standard of work completed. The work environments I worked in with the Brothers of Charity were classified as ‘high support’. This means that health complications were more severe, behaviours of concern more profound, and supports needed more extensive. I believe this helped me achieve greater independence and maturity due to roles of responsibility, handling of pressure, and multitasking efficiently to complete a diverse range of duties. I am open minded to all educational and employment opportunities in the Medical Device Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, and Social Care fields.
