About Ryan Mitchell

In my career as a student as Sonoma State University, I have achieved success through a variety of rigorous economic courses that involve skills such as quantitative marketing, statistical analysis, business intelligence, and policy evaluation. Through my development in these courses I have gained experience and insight for practical application of abilities, such as theoretical analytics, data manipulation, developing models, and data visualization. In my time as a student I have had extensive training in skills such as; Cluster/Trend Analysis A/B testing as well as difference-in-difference testing Different types of regression analysis, including but not limited to: Non-linear regression Quantile regression Probit/Logit probability modeling Time trend analysis with ARIMA modeling As well as identifying errors or issues that can occur within the data; Endogeneity Heteroskedasticity Granger and Two-Way Causality In school I use the statistical software, STATA, for most of my research and analysis. I maintain basic level knowledge of SQL and R. After modeling and analyzing the data in these software, I have the ability to create interactive and intuitive dashboards using visualization software such as Tableau, Looker, etc. A glance at the work I have done using practical data can be seen on my Tableau Public Profile which I have linked below. Outside of school I work full-time as a Manager at a local In-N-Out Burger. I have been with the company for almost 8 years and have learned many useful skills that I can use to apply in other industries. These skills include but are not limited to; achieving sales goals, team-building, leadership, business management, as well as a variety of communication skills. Through networking I was also given the opportunity to work as a data-entry and part analyst intern at Veem, a global payments platform based in San Francisco. While at Veem I was able to use my skills to organize data and create effective dashboards and visualizations to be used throughout all parts of the company. I am a hard worker and incredibly motivated to use my abilities to help improve company production or efficiency in a position such as an Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Research Analyst, etc. My time management skills allowed me to balance a full-time job while being a full-time student. After having completed my BA in Economics, I hope to take what I have learned in my experiences, and apply it to work that requires high amounts of critical thinking, as well as effective communication in order to be successful.
