About Ryan Nakatsuka

While I've enjoyed the past 6 years working at Distribution Publications, Inc, I'm also a lifelong student who is willing to get out of my comfort zone and grow. With my extrovert personality and willingness to help people, I'm looking to make a career transition into tech sales. A recent example of how I've gotten out of my comfort zone is by joining Toastmasters. At Toastmasters, I have gained valuable experience doing both prepared speeches and an activity called Table Topics. Table Topics is where you are asked a question and you have to give an impromptu response between 1-2 minutes in front of 10-20 people. Through this, I have grown in my public speaking skills as well as thinking on my feet. I believe Table Topics will help translate into a sales career when you have to think on your feet and give an impromptu response for around 1-2 minutes when dealing with objections. Another way I believe Toastmasters has prepared me for a career shift into sales is by building long-term relationships. Before the meeting starts and after the meeting ends, most members stick around and chat. I believe this will help translate when I'm doing relationship-building with prospects and clients.
