About Ryan Odonnell

I am a Programs Coordinator for the Ipswich River Watershed Association where I run water quality monitoring programs that measure and track the health of the Ipswich River. I work with many volunteers who collect data following specific procedures. I conduct training events and perform quality control by checking volunteers in the field. I have experience testing dissolved oxygen, temperature, conductivity pH and turbidity using multiparameter meters, including the calibration and use of a YSI Sonde. I am also familiar with chemical test kits for dissolved oxygen, nitrates and phosphate. I have experience with sampling and identifying macroinvertebrates to the family level and I successfully implemented an underwater camera monitoring system at a fish ladder to monitor fish migration. I have experience with preparing results reports, managing data, preparing graphs and tables and I am experiences with ArcGIS. I am conscientious, have good organizational skills and work well in a team setting or individually. In addition to my current role, I have gained valuable experience from past positions. I worked in laboratory settings as an undergraduate and master’s student and research technician. I worked in teaching where I practiced good communication and directing others to achieve goals. I had also worked in construction learning electrical work where I had to plan and accomplish specific tasks. All of these experiences have given me valuable skills in working with a variety of people and developing good communication and planning skills.
