About Ryan Omeara

Ryan O'Meara is a licensed Advanced Care Paramedic from Summerside, PEI. He followed in his father's footsteps by first becoming an Army Reservist and then a Firefighter and Primary Care Paramedic, but not before receiving a degree from Saint Mary's University in Halifax. He spent 14 months attached to a military Field Ambulance unit in order to serve a 7-month deployment to Afghanistan as a Medic in an armoured ambulance. Following his return from Afghanistan, he began his civilian Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) training, during which time he accepted a position as the Community Education Leader for the Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS) Air Ambulance in Edmonton, spending 4 years there before moving back to PEI. Shortly after beginning his employment with Island EMS, Ryan was elected the President of the Paramedic Association of Prince Edward Island - a position he’s held for 7 years. Ryan has recently completed a Master of Education (MEd) degree, specializing in Health Science Education, and is currently working full time as a Flight Paramedic in Manitoba, and casually with Island EMS. He regards his greatest accomplishments as becoming husband to his beautiful wife, Kim, and father to his precious daughter Addie.
