About Ryan Parr

Passionate about early cancer detection. Many cancers develop over a 20-30 year period, or even longer. This provides real potential to identify and treat cancer at its very inception, long before it can develop into a critical health challenge. Dedicated to the recovery and analysis of degraded and ancient DNA for both early cancer detection, using fixed and damaged tumor tissues, and deep ancestral relationships into the historical past (i.e. ancient Egypt, ancient Europe, etc.). • Innovative, principal DNA scientist with extensive work experience in both business and academics; • Led the discovery of prostate cancer and heart disease biomarkers using high throughput sequencing (HTS) and bioinformatics for personal/precision medicine applications; • Developed the Paleo-DNA laboratory at Lakehead University for genetic characterization of an ancient Coptic Christian cemetery in Egypt, through recovery and HTS of highly degraded DNA; • Excel at modern and degraded DNA analyses for medical, genealogical/ancestral applications; • Project management skills (academic and business); • Excellent publication record.
