About Ryan Poitras

My experience of entering the world of IT. After completing the computer networking course through Sask Polytech I took a service desk position in the oil and gas sector. After nine months I was promoted to desktop analyst and once the downturn in oil came along our team took on a lot more tasks from other IT roles. An opportunity arose where our team needed someone to administer our ServiceNow application, I jumped at the chance and received certification as a ServiceNow systems administrator. Eventually it evolved into an developer type role, building and modifying workflows, catalog items, testing and implementing system upgrades, while also retaining my duties as a desktop analyst. A couple of achievements I am proud of are building up a new workflow for automated ordering of consumable items for end users. As well as transitioning the older CMS portal to the new Service Portal application within ServiceNow while also adding support for the Now mobile app allowing end users to create and view their requests anywhere. In industry the passion for ServiceNow stays with me and I look forward to learning more as I continue my career.
