About Ryan Pusiak

I am a PhD candidate studying the anti-inflammatory effects of cannabis and hops. By using in vitro enzyme inhibition models I can correlate inhibition to chemistry found within the plants, therefore, identifying the main active compounds in the plant. The statistical analyses for this project are completed using the code-based software R. I hope to identify specific cannabinoids (found in cannabis ) and specific fractions of bitter acids (found in hops) that inhibit FAAH and MAGL, both of which are endocannabinoid degradation enzymes. Cannabis policy and legislation is a new field for policy analysts and scientists alike. There are many fascinating questions that must be addressed to enhance the safety and sale of cannabis products. The inter-sectionality of policies surrounding alcohol, cannabis, and tobacco should also be explored in greater detail. When I am not working, I enjoy cooking, fermenting foods, running, going on nature walks, fishing, and gardening.
