About Ryan Scheidemantle

I believe that often times our career path isn't always a straight line - its full twists and turns, and that's what makes it interesting. My career path is no exception to this. From the time I could start working, I had jobs in retail, food service, housing, tutoring kids, selling ski-lift tickets, and even used to re-sell stuff I fixed up on the side. I have degrees in International Business and Transportation and during/after my undergrad/masters I spent over 3 years in the maritime industry, coordinating the logistics for large vessels in and out of San Francisco Bay ports and for a summer sailed on a military supply vessel. Most recently I have been working as a Career Counselor for the past 6+ years at 2 universities and now at Caltrans. My past jobs have built upon one another to give me a unique skill-set and allows me to be able to adapt to the many changes that any job requires you to do so. My career journey has allowed me to encourage myself and the individuals that I work with to embrace those changes and unknowns found in the job search and explore the diverse opportunities that are out there. You really will never know where it will take you!
