My research interests share a theme of improving predictions of high-impact weather phenomena, especially severe convection (e.g. supercells, squall lines) and its hazards to society (tornadoes, hail, etc.).I make extensive use of data assimilation techniques and high-resolution numerical models, both using ensembles to capture forecast uncertainty. My other research interests include forecast verification, ensemble forecasting, and high-performance computing.I also have a passion for web development, and am regularly involved in developing new web-based methods for delivering and visualizing meteorological datasets.
