About Ryan Stodart

Having studied anthropology for several years and through my own life experiences, I can firmly say that stories, and storytelling, is an integral part of what makes humans, human. Whether the story ends in a happily-ever-after or a tragic cliffhanger, stories of all sorts captivate readers, viewers, and listeners in all forms of media, including movies and television, comic books and graphic novels, short stories and full-length novels, and even theater plays and paintings. For as long as I can remember I have had an affinity for writing and storytelling. I love a good story, a well-built universe, a diverse cast of unique characters supported by solid character development. The issue I face is that I am not much of an idea person, myself. I have trouble creating these things on my own, which is frustrating for someone with a creative muscle that wants to be flexed. What I am striving for now, after learning more about myself and what I am capable of, is to apply the perspective I have gained as a student of anthropology, along with my natural affinity for writing, to help others. My goal, and the role I believe I am made to fill, is to be an editor, to provide feedback to others and to help them tell their stories, to realize their dreams. I have edited peers' academic papers, employee training manuals at the museum job I have, and even a few short film scripts and book manuscripts for friends and local indie directors. My passion for storytelling, combined with my writing skills and anthropological perspective, will make me a great editor, one that I know will help those around me succeed at telling the stories they wish to tell.
