About Ryan Tan

Ryan is a founding member and Head of Temasek Trust's Catalytic Capital for Climate & Health (C3H), which funds early-stage companies in Climate, Health, and their intersection, aligned with Temasek Trust's impact pillars of Planet, People, Peace, and Progress. He is also the co-Head of the Strategy & Development corporate function, which allows him to contribute at the strategic perspective across the range of activities that drive toward impact.In his professional life, Ryan has extensive international experience across industries and company stages. He was previously the Chief Operating Officer of 1BStories, a Singapore-based content tech startup, and also served as COO of a major e-commerce startup in Africa and D'Crypt, a cryptographic technology firm. Earlier roles he held include heading Mergers & Acquisitions at StarHub, Singapore’s 2nd largest telecommunications firm, leading Strategy & Risk Management for SMRT Corporation, Singapore’s largest public transport operator, and consulting at Bain & Company. He started his career in the military, and completed a deployment to Afghanistan with the International Security Assistance Force.He is a board member on Equatic, which is a US-based early stage tech company. He also previously served as a member of Singapore’s Dover Park Hospice's Audit Committee. He also previously served as a member of Singapore's Dover Park Hospice's Audit Committee. Academically, Ryan was valedictorian of his University of California Los Angeles and National University of Singapore Executive MBA class, where he was named a John Wooden Global Leadership Fellow. He also holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College (summa cum laude with High Honours), and an M.A. from Columbia University.He remains active in Singapore’s reserve as a Senior Lieutenant-Colonel and Chief of Staff for an Armoured Brigade. He was awarded the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation medal, and Singapore’s National Day Commendation Medal (Military) or Pingat Penghargaan (Tentera).In his personal life, he enjoys outdoor activities, road cycling and long-course triathlons, and recently completed IRONMAN Cairns 2024 in 11 hours and 30 minutes.
