Background

About Ryan Tomiyama

I will be completing my mechanical engineering degree with an internship option in the oil and gas industry this spring at the University of Saskatchewan (U of S) and am seeking an engineering position. I have been involved in student organizations such as Huskie Motorsports and Spectrum where I have developed teamwork, time management and organizational skills.I have completed a 14 month internship with Suncor Energy where I took on the Scheduler role for Mine Equipment Maintenance (MEM)- Trucks. My internship with Suncor has provided me with insight into the oil and gas industry and planning & scheduling principles. I have expertise in the use of SAP as I created weekly schedules in GWOS (Graphical Work Order Scheduler) in addition to the creation and manipulation of work orders. I have taken on the position of President, Chassis team lead and Secretary for the U of S FSAE team, Huskie Motorsports. My involvement has provided me with two different skill sets. The design and manufacture aspect of the race car has provided me with hands-on experience in building and refining the various elements of a race car. This process has given me experience in 3-D modeling; more specifically, SolidWorks, as the majority of the car is designed and assembled using this software. The Presidency taught me the importance of communication with all members of the team as well as external partners (SESS, Dean of Engineering etc.), I have become extremely well organized as I am required to balance my classes, Huskie Motorsports, and my extra-curricular activities.
