About Ryan Willms

I pride myself in taking on new challenges and always striving to learn more. In both my formal and informal education, my curiosity and drive to learn has made me a well rounded individual capable of working with stakeholders from any part of a company. Outside of work, I have many creative outlets. I recently began playing piano, the first instrument I've ever learned, and I enjoy painting on canvas. I am an avid sports player, both team and individual, which has provided me with invaluable skills for teamwork and determination. At Maplesoft, I have worked my way through Technical Support and Quality Assurance into my role now as a Project Manager for 2 of our professional market products (MapleSim and Maple Flow). These products are directed towards engineers and related fields which allows me to leverage my Engineering degree with the skills learned as a Project Manager (Agile methods). Additionally, my technical skills allowed me to carve out a secondary role in the PMO group as Product Owner, Localization, to take complete control of all Localization tasks at Maplesoft. Through the use of scripted processes that I have completed we have expanded the localization coverage across nearly all of our products and with incredible efficiency. Maple Learn is now in 10 languages! My latest adventure is to learn about the UX and UI design processes. I recently completed a comprehensive bootcamp in UX design which allowed me to work through the entire design process of an app that I developed in Figma. I love art, and paint on canvas frequently, so this industry seems like a natural fit for my skills in technology, art, design, and communication. I'm intrigued to see what the industry will continue to grow in to and how it varies across technological domains. By completing additional online courses in HTML and CSS I have expanded my understanding of UI principles.
