About Ryan Wright

I'm Ryan. Process quality hero by day. Amateur photographer, world traveler, curler, and mini-golf champion by night. While some might find it strange, I absolutely love process. Be it development, review, or implementation, I want to get my hands in there and get involved - to shape, hone, and improve. Without process, you have no base. With no base you have nothing to measure improvement (or backtracking) against. It's not just about having requirements to build a procedure. It's about having a defined, repeatable process for ensuring that everyone involved knows how to create clear, concise, objective requirements. A process for creating process? Absolutely! And, it's not just about collecting metrics either. It's about knowing who your audience is, what is needed to be tracked, and how the information will be used. How is this done? Process. While I do love getting my own hands dirty, I also want to help others learn how to be more effective when they get their hands dirty too. How to be more efficient when getting in there, planning, and executing. In essence, how to turn status quo competence into providing outstanding value to your team, your division, and your organization. To this end, I also love standing in front of a group and leading them through something new. I have taught courses on quality, presentation effectiveness, and more. There are even ways to improve how we accomplish the simple tasks like how one ties their shoelaces (there is a better way - double up on that first "right over left"). I also enjoy being the one in a classroom learning new things. I am on a constant path to improve myself. Day to day I am still taking new certification programs to improve in the workplace. When I'm not in the office, you can often find me with a map or a camera in hand, ready to find a new angle from which to experience the world around me. You might find me getting down on the ground to take selfies with quokkas on an island in the Indian Ocean, capturing lion cubs playing in the savannah, or even capturing the steam rising from the perfectly poured espresso shot on a chilly November day in Tuscany. When I am at home, you'll find me trying to master a decent draw weight on the curling rink.(There's process to learn everywhere!)
