About Ryland Lu

I have been fascinated with urban geography from a young age. My desire to understand the spatial relationships between and among communities motivates my career in transportation planning. As a planning professional, I strive to improve mobility in urban areas sustainably, efficiently, and equitable. Whether writing a Feasibility Study for a regional transit corridor, mapping out pedestrian improvements for a First/Last-Mile plan, or developing the annual State of the Commute for a major university, I am adept at building narratives from complex information. My prior study of history and international relations makes me cognizant of the social systems that are always present in a human-oriented discipline like planning. Overall, I like to think of myself as both an experimenter and an investigator in my work style, always seeking the most effective method to get to the bottom of a problem. As a creative person with a strong work ethic, I am effective at both devising and implementing out-of-the-box solutions. The future is always bright in transportation planning. I look forward to making it happen.
