About Rylie Buscher

Currently pursuing a Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Science degree with a minor in Biology at the University of Rhode Island, expected to graduate in 2026. As an Undergraduate Research Assistant in Dr. David Rowley's lab, I specialize in HPLC and LC-MS experimentation and analysis of natural drug products. I am currently investigating the antibiotic potential of Liriodendron tulipifera samples harvested from the Heber W. Youngken, Jr. Medicinal Garden at URI. Previously, I worked in Dr. Hang Ma’s Lab, conducting literature reviews on the anti-inflammatory properties of psychedelic compounds and synthesizing detailed research summaries. I gained laboratory experience by evaluating the anti-inflammatory effects of CBD using enzymatic assay methodologies. In Dr. Nisanne Ghonem's laboratory, I gained foundational research experience by collaborating with graduate students to enhance my scientific skill set. I have also honed leadership and organizational skills as a Senior Building Manager at the University of Rhode Island, advocating for student staff and overseeing campus events. My certifications in Lab Chemical Safety and OSHA Personal Protective Equipment Training further underscore my commitment to safety and excellence in laboratory environments.
