About Ryuichi Uozumi

On 2011, RU joined Astellas Pharma, experiencing all stages of drug discovery, from in-house drug discovery program creation to biomarker discovery for clinical applications. Program creation was implemented in the field of cancer metabolism. At the stage of hit to lead generation phase, RU set up assay development toward high throughput screening against wide range of target classes including GPCRs, ion channels, enzymes incl. endogenous metabolic enzymes, proteasome, transporters, nuclear receptor transcription factors. In particular, RU has deep knowledge of compound screening with label-free detection by high-throughput mass spectrometry. In clinical stage, RU engaged in biomarker exploration to predict the progression of disease from the serum or urine of patients. Using metabolomics techniques, RU identified candidate markers that correlate with the stage of disease state. RU has a strong interest in the field of development of clinical dose predictions and systems pharmacology based on models and simulations. After the Astellas era, RU joined Horizon Discovery (now Revvity) as a field application scientist on 2020. RU delivered his technical presentation for Horizon's product and services (CRISPR reagents, customized cell line engineering and contract research services), which led to closing of multiple wons, with his excellent performance for his technical consultant activity, leading to FAS Honorary Recognition Award 2021. Currently, starting from 2023, RU switched to take on purely business development role across a wide range of products and services of the company.
