About S. Jordan Wright

I am the Director of Communications at Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc.(RID), where I oversee the publications, consumer research, and development functions of the organization. With over 10 years of experience in mixed methods research, large scale data analysis, and publications, I bring a wealth of expertise and insights to the RID team. I have a PhD in Deaf Education and Deaf Studies from Gallaudet University, the world's premier institution for deaf and hard of hearing education and research. Prior to joining RID, I was a research assistant professor at Rochester Institute of Technology, where I led the DML Lab. Our mission was to explore digital, cultural, and health literacy as it coexisted with people living with disabilities. We used a mixed methods approach to identify disparities in digital health literacy among varying populations within the USA. I also served as the program director of one of the fastest-growing accredited doctoral programs in the nation for Deaf Studies and Deaf Education at Lamar University. I have mentored and supported numerous deaf academics and professionals through various initiatives and platforms, such as the SAGE Deaf Studies Encyclopedia, the PAH! Deaf Academics Writing Retreat, and the Deaf Culture Initiative at ACPA. I am passionate about advancing the field of deaf studies, deaf education, and empowering deaf and hard of hearing people to achieve their full potential.
