About S. Rush Filson

I am an Executive Vice President and Director of Global Security with 31 years of experience in leadership, security operations, and international defense policy. My career has focused on driving operational success, fostering international collaboration, and solving complex challenges in global environments. As a retired U.S. Marine Colonel, I’ve led teams as large as 3500 personnel, managed $400m in assets, and executed crisis response operations across 9 million square miles while delivering optimal results in high-pressure environments. From developing international defense strategies to directing information security and cyber defense initiatives, I’ve worked to enhance national security through proven leadership, operational excellence, and innovation. Career highlights include:+ Advising the Department of Defense’s East Asia Security Policy Office on cybersecurity/ information security, space policy, and regional security, while creating integrated solutions for information warfare capabilities.+ Directing cybersecurity operations for the U.S. Marine Corps Forces Cyberspace Command, leading efforts to defend mission-critical networks and successfully mitigating cyber threats with a 100% success rate.+ Overseeing politico-military operations across the Western Hemisphere for U.S. Southern Command, responding to regional crises, addressing narcoterrorism threats, and shaping U.S. strategy against global competitors.+ Helping establish the Navy’s first Chief Data Officer position, creating data governance policies, and driving data-related efficiencies across the Department of the Navy. Throughout my career, I’ve prioritized team development, cross-functional collaboration, and forward-thinking strategies to address evolving challenges. My focus has always been on delivering practical, effective solutions and fostering partnerships across government agencies, international organizations, and private sectors. As I transition to roles in the private sector, I aim to use my experience in strategic leadership, cybersecurity, and risk management to help organizations navigate complex challenges and achieve their goals. I hold active TS/SCI/ CI POLY clearance and am pursuing a Master’s in Cybersecurity Risk Management from Georgetown University. Outside of work, I enjoy all of what D.C. and Chesapeake Bay have to offer, archaeology, and traveling with my family.
