About Saba Asad

Over my career as a physician leader, I’ve gained valuable experience in establishing and running innovative programs to inspire performance and expand organizational capabilities. My expertise includes in-depth strategic direction and motivational leadership with an understanding of the critical value of inspiring people to high levels of performance. I’m known for keeping my teams focused. I have been selected to lead across increasingly complex (and simultaneous) roles including senior physician executive, utilization management director, lead for safety net hospitals, pharmacy and therapeutic committee chair, and throughput committee chair. Within each one of these roles, I have built out programs that decreased LOS, lowered readmittance, elevated the patient experience, and fostered greater cross-service line collaboration. I built the hospitalist team at John Peter Smith Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center, from 2 FTEs to a 36.5-member cross-functional care coordination team. I accomplished this by finding the right physicians, and building processes to recognize and reward performance. I work with my team to strengthen billing and coding skills, improve bedside manner, and ensure the highest level of quality care delivered at the lowest cost to both the patient and the hospital. My extensive knowledge of building internal systems and procedures as well as program development, and my understanding of the importance of community involvement gives me the ability to assess the potential for growth in specific areas, whether geographical or demographic. I am also keenly aware of the importance of building a sense of community to align hospital vision with communities served.
