About Sabeera Nowreen

I chose to study the field of psychology with a clear aim of facilitating recognition, and reflection of ones’ thoughts, beliefs and behavior by aiding humans in their quest of building resources needed to successfully navigate through various stages of life. I am a practising psychologist with over 2 years of experience, having conducted more than hours of counselling and psychotherapy sessions with adolescents and adults. Dedicated to providing compassionate and evidence-based care, I assist clients in navigating psychological challenges effectively. My therapeutic approach is rooted in an Acceptance and Mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral orientation, integrating trauma-informed and queer-affirming principles. I also work through a lens of understanding the impact of sociocultural factors on mental well-being, focusing on empowering individuals to navigate life's challenges with acceptance, resilience and self-compassion. I have experience of working with grief, trauma, depressive and anxiety disorders, life transitions needing to build acceptance and adaptability, relationship issues, Identity exploration and career guidance among others. In addition to clinical work, I have trained over 200 interns in counselling, therapeutic techniques, and research methodologies. My research interests includes addictive behaviours, delinquency, social influences, and psychotherapy.
