About Sabra Boyd

Sabra is an award winning independent journalist, public speaker, consultant, and web developer. Sabra covers stories about exploitation in all its forms including healthcare, homelessness, trafficking, tech, prison, food, and beauty. She is currently working on a memoir about surviving familial child trafficking, and a reported history of tech, child labor, and human trafficking. As a child trafficking survivor with professional experience working as a hospital and clinic admin, Sabra also works as a consultant. In 2022, Sabra helped shape national policy to improve consumer protections for human trafficking victims whose identities have been stolen, and she also worked to develop a protocol toolkit for healthcare providers. After studying biology and art in college, Sabra's plans to attend medical school were thwarted by cervical cancer. Instead of med school, Sabra worked for a biomedical research company, and over a decade as a healthcare admin and homeless youth advocate, before pivoting her career into freelance journalism and tech. In her free time, Sabra writes screenplays, builds Python and Ruby apps for fun, makes chocolate, sings opera, and goes hiking (because that's a required thing to say if you live in Seattle).
