I began my career with Smith + Howard in 2002 as an intern in the tax department. In the early years of my career, I gained extensive experience advising construction companies, high net worth individuals and nonprofit organizations on tax and other business and accounting issues. Over the course of the last decade, I have been especially focused on developing the nonprofit practice at Smith + Howard, refining processes and empowering the team for success in elite service, delivered with great care.I spend the bulk of my time on nonprofit organizations, but still work with many for-profit middle market businesses. I enjoy this blend; it keeps me engaged in issues relevant to both arenas, ensuring my insights are supremely well-informed to yield optimal outcomes. My work with nonprofits encourages me, serving as an ongoing reminder of the importance of community and citizenship. I recognize that the services provided to the community by our nonprofit clients, such as diversifying education and providing assistance in healthcare, are integral to the well-being of individuals and the region as a whole.With our team and our clients, I lead with empathy, and am known and respected as a leader and service provider who puts people first. I am proud to be trusted with the decisions people make for their business, and am a reliable partner for growth.The one constant in the tax world is things are always changing. My clients have confidence in my knowledge and commitment to staying on top of those changes and delivering elite tax service and planning. We embrace the shift toward technology that’s occurring in the world of accounting. At the same time, I understand that the ultimate success will be found by those who think broadly, can see beyond mere data, and can wade through and beyond bare facts to offer practical solutions to clients. This strategic mindset plays a role in my value as a partner at Smith + Howard and an advisor for our clients.I serve on the Center for Family Resources Board and volunteer at my church. I have been a featured speaker at the Georgia Society of CPAs’ Not for Profit Conference and numerous industry events and conferences. I live in Atlanta but enjoy traveling throughout the United States.
