About Sacha Brons

Food forest farmer, specialised in nature-based carbon removal and storage through biobased materials (timber, fibre crops) and agroforestry. I passionately work for the transition towards economies based on reciprocity and common stewardship of our soils, forests, and buildings. That stewardship starts with my own actions to regenerate 13 hectares of agricultural land in the Netherlands. I independently advise and collaborate with governments, NGOs and pioneers to generate knowledge, guidance and policies to include biogenic carbon storage in economic decision making. I believe the value of biogenic carbon storage can be a catalyst for rapid transitions in construction and agriculture, among other sectors. I engage with a pan-European network of frontrunners and policymakers, through presentations, webinars and keynotes, but also through close on-the-ground collaboration with practical projects. I'm excited to learn more about transition dynamics,(inner) regeneration, food commons and human-nature relations. And as a farmer, I'm always learning about new plants and cultivation methods! Creating and testing free, open-source tools to quantify and value carbon storage in biobased materials. Helping biobased value chains scale up. Co-creator and guest lecturer of the elective 'Food Forestry: Experiencing the Future of Nature and Agriculture' at the University of Amsterdam. ‍ Graduated Cum Laude in Future Planet Studies (Earth & Climate Sciences, Systems Thinking, Ecology) from University of Amsterdam. Gruaduated Cum Laude in Political Science, with a specialisation in Political Economy, from the University of Amsterdam.
