I’m Saddam Hussein, a Geospatial Data Scientist with over a decade of expertise in remote sensing and geospatial modeling. I aim to develop and implement data-driven strategies that align with organizational goals, ensuring impactful and sustainable conservation outcomes. With extensive experience in data management and analytics, including SQL databases, R, ArcGIS, and Google Earth Engine, I excel at turning complex data into actionable insights that inform strategic decisions. As a Senior Conservation Evidence Coordinator at WCS-IP, I focus on developing and implementing data strategies that align with organizational goals. I translate complex conservation objectives into actionable data plans, ensuring that every piece of information is used to its fullest potential. My role involves collaborating with stakeholders across departments to identify data needs and opportunities and recommending and overseeing the implementation of data technologies that enhance decision-making. I lead the Conservation Evidence Unit (CEU), a team comprising Data Management Specialists, GIS Officers, Database and System Developer Programmers, and Data Support personnel. Our team excels in data management and analytics using tools like Kobo Toolbox, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SharePoint, RShiny, GIS and remote sensing, and SMART (Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tools). Together, we ensure that every piece of information is carefully and accurately taken, stored, secured, backed up, and managed so that every data point can be used and transformed into meaningful insights through robust data analysis.
