About Safa Moussoud

As a recent PhD graduate from Queen’s University with a focus in English Language and Literature, I have developed a strong foundation in interdisciplinary research, combining literary analysis with cultural, historical, and socio-political contexts. My dissertation, which examines the literary and cultural narratives of North American Muslim millennials during the War on Terror era, explores the intersections of diaspora, identity, and transnational literature, offering new insights into contemporary cultural and global narratives. With over nine years of experience as a teaching assistant and course developer—particularly in areas like race and gender in YA fiction—I have cultivated a deep understanding of how to bridge various disciplines such as critical race theory, anti-oppressive pedagogy, and digital storytelling. My work integrates diverse theoretical frameworks and methodologies, allowing me to approach research and teaching with a broad, inclusive perspective. Currently, I serve as a Writing, Academic, and ELL Specialist at Queen’s University’s Student Academic Success Services, where I support students from diverse backgrounds in achieving their academic and professional goals. I am passionate about advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and indigeneity in both my teaching and research practices. I am eager to connect with fellow academics, educators, and professionals who share a commitment to interdisciplinary research, cultural exploration, and promoting social justice through education.
