About Sagarika Ray

I have been a Consultant Neonatologist in the NHS since May 2015 and have 20 years of experience of working in the NHS. My areas of interest include neurodevelopmental follow-up, evidence-based medicine, risk management, and quality improvement. I am the local Neonatal Safety Champion. I am the Training Programme Director (Quality Assurance) for NHS England West Midlands School of Paediatrics. I am a clinical reviewer for the RCPCH Invited Reviews Programme, which undertakes service reviews. My professional activities have included being a Neonatal Subject Matter Advisor for maternity investigations for the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB-UK), a member of the Expert Panel and Guidelines Development Group for review of the Screening for Retinopathy of Prematurity UK guidelines (2019) and BAPM Working Group for SNOWMED-CT. I have also been a member of the Case Review Panels for the Perinatal Confidential Enquiries of 2018/19 and 2021/22 that have been organised through MBRRACE-UK (Mothers and Babies: reducing risk through audits and confidential enquiries across the UK). I am on the Editorial Advisory Board of the 'Infant' Journal and I am the Neonatal Editor for the Neonatal Guidelines published by the Bedside Clinical Guidelines Partnership, West Midlands Perinatal Network. I am also an external expert peer reviewer for BMJ Case Reports Journal. I am an Editorial Board Member for MNSI (Maternity and Newborn Safety Investigations). My role as an educator includes standard-setting for MRCPCH examinations at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (UK), RCPCH START assessor, reviewing and updating modules on e-learning platforms for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (UK) and West Midlands Paediatrics Postgraduate Virtual Learning Environment. I have also been an invited speaker, as well as published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals.
