About Sahaana Sankar

With an Electronics and Communications Engineering degree from Anna University, Chennai and a Masters in Management from the London School of Economics and Political Science, Sahaana Sankar is passionate about both social impact and finance. Through her role at Varashakti Housing Finance, she has an opportunity to pursue both - provide financing solutions to families at the base of the pyramid to build an asset that is safe, secure and climate resilient. Aside from this, she is a communications and fundraising professional with close to a decade of experience in this sector. She has led communications and branding for Hand in Hand India, a leading NGO with its presence in 18 states across India. She also has expertise in not for profit fundraising and has supported raising nearly USD for empowerment, education and environment causes through Hand in Hand Switzerland. Prior to these experiences, Sahaana has held various leadership and editorial positions during her education. She has worked with a start-up, Wimbletech in the UK for a year as the Financial and Community manager where she handled the audit, accounts and expansion strategy alongside a small team. She also has experience as a Strategy Consultant with Applied Value Group in Stockholm. At a short stint with Centre for Science and Environment, New Delhi, she was the editor of a youth-led magazine Green and Grey. She has also worked with the United Nations Chief Executive Board in New York.
