I’m a bookkeeping accountant who specialises in payables and receivables. You could say how I got here was quite unorthodox, but it’s certainly been worthwhile.My fascination with making sense of this world inspired me to study History at university. It left me with a deeper understanding of cause and effect, as well as honing in my critical thinking and analytical skills. The year I spent studying in Lisbon, Portugal exposed me to an even broader set of ideas and ways of living. Naturally, I gravitated to the world of accounting. This was an environment where I could really thrive. Here I could optimise my love for analysing data, upholding robust systems, and organising reports.Having worked for small and large companies for over 5 years, I’ve had the chance to use various accounting tools and software, from Sage to SAP Ariba, and of course Excel. The interpersonal skills gained through collaborating with both suppliers and clients alike have increased my willingness to engage openly with people of all backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints. A typical financial year for an accounts team involves periods of high stakes and high pressure, which I view as an opportunity to challenge my abilities whilst navigating a fast paced environment, commit to deadlines, take ownership of my duties and support my team.The recent break I took from full-time employment has provided an opportunity to focus on professional development. In this time, I gained certifications in topics ranging from SEO to Body Language, alongside achieving the personal goal of improving health and well-being.Outside of work, I like keep my brain active by regularly attending art galleries and museums - I find these places to be particularly grounding and document well humanity’s brief yet impactful existence on this planet. Looking to the future, I not only aspire to better myself in a single field, but hope to be an all-round asset to whichever organisation I’m a part of.
