Portfolio Information: My personal website is: https://saideepgona.github.io/, where you can browse my project portfolio and other things! My github is: https://github.com/SaideepGona. Personal Background: I am a bioinformatician with a strong interest in using cutting edge modeling techniques, including probabilistic modeling an deep learning, to derive clinically relevant insights from next-generation sequencing data. I am a computational genomics PhD candidate at the University of Chicago, have worked as a research bioinformatician, and I have a master's degree in computational biology from Carnegie Mellon University. My current work is focused on developing novel machine learning frameworks to build predictive models useful for understanding the genetic underpinnings of disease. In prior work, I have provided rigorous bioinformatics support to dozens of clinical researchers, resulting in major contributions to over seven impactful publications. Through my extensive coursework, I have a deep knowledge of probability, statistics, and core algorithms underlying bioinformatics. As a result, I am able to adapt to a wide range of analytical disciplines spanning the world of bioinformatics and data science.
