I am a first-year chemical and biomolecular engineering Ph.D. student at the University of Delaware, with a research background in immunology. Before starting my Ph.D. career, I conducted research on immune profiling and gene cloning for recombinant Influenza vaccine application. With the demographic shifting towards the aging population, there is a critical need to better understand the physiological and cellular changes associated with aging to develop therapies that suit the aging immune system. For my research, I am seeking to advance understanding of macrophage biology by probing the interplay between phagocytosis, cellular metabolism, and survival in the aged lung. The goal of my research is to identify molecular pathways that cause impaired macrophage function and develop metabolite-inspired therapeutics that could restore its functionality.
