About Saku Rantala

Saku is currently working for Oras Group as a manager of group manufacturing technology. His main task is to support new product and technology launches, manage portfolio of manufacturing technology investments and keep manufacturing technology up to date according to continuous improvement process. Saku oversees Oras Group manufacturing technology in Finland, Poland and Czech Republic and reports to Oras Group COO. Saku worked recently also for Teollisuuden Voima (TVO) as manager of project management and investment portfolio. Investments concerned renewals, modernizations and changes of Olkiluoto 1, 2 and 3 nuclear power plants’ systems. Prior to transfer from Kongsberg to TVO Saku oversaw manager role of project management and engineering in Kongsberg ship intelligence. Saku has over 20 years’ experience in marine business, tens of cultures, different business segments and worked in marine companies like KONGSBERG, Rolls-Royce and Deltamarin. He has been involved in azimuth thruster design, ship design, sales and during the past years successfully delivered more than 60 projects to the customers as senior project manager. He has experience of managing design teams and project management team as well individually managing projects together with world’s largest shipyards in Korea, China, Singapore and America. Among others 23 drillship and rig projects, world’s largest ship Pioneering Spirit owned by Allseas and largest wind turbine installation vessel Seajacks Scylla. Saku has also worked for design and consultancy company Deltamarin and he has been hired by cruise liner owner to lead and prepare electric design and execution for massive 4 cruise ship modification projects. 2016 and 2017 Saku led the team who achieved great milestone in remote and autonomous ship technology by demonstrating the world’s first remotely controlled commercial ship.
