About Sally Mayne

My name is Sally Mayne and I am a creative and community-oriented individual living in Edmonton, AB. Currently, I am a teacher within Edmonton Public Schools, specifically grade 6 at this time. Previous teaching includes grades 3-9 French as a Second Language as well as junior high Social Studies and English Language Arts. I completed my bachelor of education after-degree at Concordia University of Edmonton. Throughout my teaching career and previous endeavours, I have prioritized building connections with others, utilizing my arts background to bring out creativity within various subjects, and have used my knowledge and training in mental health to support the teaching and management in my classrooms. Before teaching, I received my BFA with distinction in Printmaking from the Alberta College of Art & Design, and have worked within Arts & Culture for nearly 8 years. I have been involved in non-profit/artist-run organizations for several years, while also working for community oriented commercial businesses. I have thrived in theatre and gallery administration, freelance printmaking, videography and photography, installation and art framing, and leadership development through arts programming in First Nations communities. I am a strong organizational leader, entrepreneur and programmer. I thrive on community development and enjoy bringing my artistic passion into the workplace. I love to teach, and to learn. Although I have lived in other places like France and Scotland, I still call Edmonton home. I continue to nurture my relationship with this diverse city through its vibrant opportunities!
