About Sally Squires

My main research explores the effects of social enterprise projects on women’s health in Teso, a rural and marginalised area of North-Eastern Uganda. I am also the founder and chair of a Nottingham- based charity that promotes community health and well-being in Teso sub-region through social enterprise projects based on communitarian values. The charity works collaboratively with colleagues in Uganda. As an educator I have taught children from nursery age through to A’Level for over 20 years, and more recently as a senior lecturer in public health, I have lectured and supervised MA students. I have also been an an Assistant Headteacher at a large primary school in Nottingham. My links with East Africa and my passion for research have motivated me to help bring about positive change and justice within public health. My interests lie in global health and gender equity.
