About Sam Bauwens

During my 15+ years of professional experience, I worked mostly on C#, web-based and mobile products as a full-stack developer, with varying degrees of agile. I feel at home in autonomous, cross-disciplinary, user-facing teams, ideally owning a vertical product segment. I have a strong attention to detail and I love crafting useful and enjoyable software experiences, thinking holistically, from product and user interface to backend concerns. Learning and integrating domain knowledge and language in the code and architecture as much as possible (Domain Driven Design). Aiming for code that is natural to read, with limited cognitive load. After working on multiple software projects using test-driven development practices, each with their successes and pitfalls, I have learned what works and what doesn't. And I want to put this experience to use and help other teams avoid these pitfalls and build a strong test-driven development strategy. A test suite that provides developers the safety net and rapid feedback loop necessary for incrementally refactoring towards maintainable and readable code with few defects. I believe in leveraging the principles of agile to manage the inherent uncertainty around software projects, but I am not religious about any one particular agile framework.
