About Sam Debroux

My name is Sam DeBroux, and I am an Aurora University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. Along with being an AU student, I have been a peer tutor, data analyst, and have worked in retail for 5 years. During my time at AU, I had great opportunities to make connections with wonderful people, along with enriching myself with skills to help me thrive in any environment. Technical skills, such as data analysis with Excel and Power BI, to more soft skills, like how to confidently present my research and opinions, and how to communicate properly and efficiently to work well with all sorts of people, are only some examples of what I've gained from my time there. During my time as a peer tutor at AU, I not only learned how to properly analyze data and make effective plans based on that analysis, but I also found myself being able to guide others to do the same. I tutored for classes that required the use of Excel to analyze data to pull insights to be able to tell a story with that data, and helping guide others to do that helped me further my understanding of how to do so, and helped me be a better peer to my classmates. I started my data analysis career with EPG Specialty Information as an intern, and have worked my way to becoming an outside contractor with them. During my time with them, I have done extensive research into the powersports, power equipment, and alcohol industries, ranging from doing general research online to creating surveys and analyzing the results to gather the best insights from consumers. Segmenting consumers to better create target markets has been a big responsibility of mine during my time with EPG Specialty Information. I've worked in retail for 5 years at Famous Footwear, where I've worked with wonderful people, and have contributed to helping build a great team environment at multiple locations. I started as a sales associate in 2019, and over the course of 5 years, I have become an assistant manager who has helped out at 9 different locations across the northern Illinois area. I've attended to countless customers over the years and have learned how to communicate with all different types of people, to help them with whatever they may need in their shoe-buying experience, and this skill could be helpful regardless of industry.
