About Sam Engele

I have a keen interest in how different policy portfolios intersect to build stronger cities - focused on climate resilience, quality buildings, close to nature and focused on communities and people. My current position as Deputy Director-General for the City and Environment Directorate (ACT Government) includes responsibility for planning, development implementation, environmental policy, parks and conservation, climate change, energy and water. Having worked across several key positions within the ACT Government I have a deep understanding of how these policy areas can inform significant change for our city as it grows and matures. I believe these changes should stay true to the vision of the Griffins, while adapting to modern lifestyles, a warming climate, and the diverse needs of our growing community. Initially from Sydney I have had the privilege of working both locally and overseas and use this experience to lead large teams across my portfolio from significant policy reforms through to operational delivery. My family and I are proud to call Canberra, Ngunnawal Country, home.
