About Sam Freis

I am pursuing my PhD in Psychology with a focus in Behavioral, Psychiatric, and Statistical Genetics at CU Boulder. Essentially, I research why people vary in their behavioral and psychological outcomes. For example, why do some people struggle with anxiety or attention problems while others do not? I answer these research questions by examining how genetic and environmental factors contribute to variation in human behavior, and my expertise is specifically in cognitive psychology and mental health outcomes. I am a skilled and highly motivated Ph.D. candidate with a robust research and data analysis background. I have 5+ years of experience in coordinating, designing, executing, and analyzing complex research projects to advance understanding of human behavior, cognition, and mental health, resulting in 10 first-author scientific publications and presentations, 15 co-author scientific publications and in tuition and stipend funding, and a award for excellence in research. Additionally, I have a strong track record of being deadline-driven, organized, and able to multitask and problem-solve in fast-paced environments, demonstrated by my excellent academic performance, extensive publication record, and multiple awards and fellowships.
