About Sam Gent

Depending on which side of the light hearted debate you stand, I’m a marketer and/or marketeer with over 30 years’ experience in all the aspects that either descriptor involves… Having started in media sales for 5 years with first radio, then TV, the move came to the other side as a media buyer, before setting out on a self-constructed path to provide a full account agency service for new-to-television clients in private and public sectors. Directly handling all aspects of client accounts, from initial board contact, understanding the aims and supplying approved press, radio and TV copy, to negotiating and managing the campaigns ROI, resulted in an ability to understand and involve myself in all areas of brand marketing. Through increased management of internal teams and external suppliers, my brand control experience extended into PR and online services, covering clients in sectors from healthcare to local government, motoring to sport and engineering to education. An increasing role with one client meant a move to become the UK Marketing Manager and then Regional Brand Director (Europe) for a multinational franchised retailer, before looking to work closer to home brought me to B2B/B2G roles responsible for brand creation, web build and overall marketing strategy. Then what’s the next step… after discovering a little more about my neurodivergent self, I want to enjoy and develop the brand marketing strategy within a positive market sector as part of the right life/work mix. This could either be through a rewarding role within the third sector, education, care service, and green business environment or through a personal interest market such as automotive, design, media and entertainment, property or rugby league (niche)… it’s finding something that works that counts.
