About Sam Jones

As a lifelong Hoosier, I have been engaging with the Indianapolis area to better myself and give back to the community that I grew up in. I am currently a Vocal Performance and German double major at Butler University. While studying at Butler, I have been able to learn skills as a performer and understand the rich history behind different musical traditions. I have also been studying the German language and culture, helping me to engage with cross-cultural perspectives, communicate with others, and practice teaching concepts to others. While at Butler, much of my time outside of classes has been spent interacting with Indianapolis. Singing throughout the city at Roberts Park United Methodist Church, with Indy Opera, and in a variety of other settings has been such a joy. Over the last few years I have been a part of the Butler Community Arts School's art summer camps. Sharing my passion for the arts with the students has inspired me to find more opportunities in education. Another way I have been active around Indianapolis is a recent position I started on the merchandise team at Old National Centre. Getting to interact with such a diverse range of guests and contribute to their experience has helped teach me so much about myself and the city I've grown up in.
