About Sam L. Rucker

Sam L. Rucker is an Afro-Indigenous, Queer, Nonbinary, Parent and Psychotherapist who utilizes trauma-informed relational style therapy through an intersectional feminist lens and Afro-Indigenous spiritual practices to facilitate the healing process. Sam received a Masters degree from La Salle University in Professional Clinical Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy and specializes in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). The crux of Sam’s work rests in identifying and reconnecting to the self, healing internal dissonance. Sam refers to this work as reestablishing personal and generational roots to mend the fractured soul. In private practice, Sam works with individuals of color and transracial adoptive families. Sam works with Therapy Center of Philadelphia (TCP) as a Psychotherapist, Intern Field Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, Group Supervisor for Clinicians of Color, and Change Team member assessing the organization's commitment to the mission of racial and gender equity. At Walnut Psychotherapy Center (WPC), Sam facilitates the People of Color Supervisory Group guiding clinicians/healers toward deepening and defining their practices. Additionally, Sam facilitates a virtual biweekly community support group for BIPOC who are feminine of center.
