About Sam Lanckriet

Sam Lanckriet is an architect-engineer and since 2010 active as a freelance designer, researcher, curator, editor and illustrator. He was chairman of the organization of architecture students at Ghent University and chief editor of their magazine. He graduated with a project about the expansion of the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town, South Africa, where he stayed for 3 months. He worked as a designer at OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen, Bovenbouw Architectuur and Metapolis Architects. He was affiliated as a researcher at Architecture Workroom, the Habitat Unit of the Technische Universität Berlin and at the Department of Architecture & Urban Planning at Ghent University, where he was involved in the publications Atlas de Matadi. Radioscopie d'une ville portuaire (upcoming, MAS Books) and Recollecting Landscapes. Rephotography, Memory and Transformation 1904-1980-2004-2014. He was curatorial assistant at deSingel International Arts Campus / Flemish Architecture Institute and BOZAR Centre for Fine Arts / A+ Architecture in Belgium, where he coordinated the exhibitions CityOutsideTheCity and Four Visions on the North-South Junction. After living in Brussels, Berlin and Lisbon, among other places, he is currently staying in Ghent and his home town Ostend. When time permits and conditions are favorable, you will find him in the sea between the waves, on his surfboard.
